FLUORESCENT BANSHEE. DOWALLY
Live performance recording for Dowally at Chamber Studio.
The band had arranged a recording session at the renowned Chamber Studio in Edinburgh and brought us in to make the best of the space and record a couple of live performances. Dowally are a multi-instrumental band that plays Scottish/American folk music with guitar, fiddle and accordion mainly - on some occasions their sound includes piano and vocals.
The recording consisted in habilitating a space for the band to play comfortably and for the crew to move freely and take camera positions. We propped the studio with warm lighting and added a soft china ball right on top of the artists for a well exposed and cozy atmosphere. We rehearsed several times and finally accomplished the single take steadicam shot we were after. The final film had colour grading, motion graphics and some additional digital stabilisation.
